Bamboo Caramel Sidepressed

Bamboo is a solid wood type with a characteristic appearance. The material consists of cross-glued strips, which means that there are hardly any knots visible in the material. The board looks the same from both sides and is very strong in the length with the grain, but less strong crosswise. The pressing of the board is sidepressed.

Applications

Bamboo is often found in components that are often visible, such as housings, cover plates, decorative elements, furniture and interior construction, and works of art.

Design considerations

Pay attention to thickness tolerance when designing finger and lock connections. Solid bamboo has a grain direction and this is generally horizontal for a full panel, but can also vertically depend on how the panel is sawn. If the grain direction is important, this should be indicated in advance.

Laser cutting

The cutting edges of bamboo will turn black. There will be smoke residue around the cut on the top and bottom of the material, this can largely prevented by protective film. Any smoke residue that is still on the material can easily be removed with sandpaper.

Post-processing

Post-processing of Bamboo is not necessary, but can optionally be sent with 400 grit sandpaper for a smooth finish. Bamboo can be painted, glued, sawn, milled, drilled and sanded, either afterwards or beforehand.

Appearance

Bamboo is very light brown in colour with a clear grain direction. Cutting edges and surface and line engravings are dark brown and (almost) do not transfer. Each plate is virtually flawless on both sides. Due to the nature of the material, the density may vary slightly.
