How much does it cost to have my design produced?

The prices for laser cutting vary per project; for example, a small batch of 5 large shapes from thick acrylic can cost €10 each, while a batch of 1000 small gaskets can cost €0.08 each. 

Through our online system, we can provide a price immediately for drawings that comply with our drawing rules. The pricing structure consists of 3 components, which are explained in detail at the end of the page. The price for laser cutting is calculated based on machine time (cutting length + any engraving length & surface), material choice, batch size, and delivery time.

We have developed a tool below to visualize the cost price. In this example, the design is a box with finger joints. The complexity per operation can be determined on the right side so that you can gain insight into how the different operations affect the price in combination with the material, thickness, and size.

1. Machine time.

The costs for cutting/engraving the workpiece are based on machine time. The different operations affect machine time in various ways.

(through)cutting: The thickness of the material (thicker materials are cut more slowly) and the number of cut lines determine the machine time.

Line engraving: The costs depend on the amount (total length) of engraving lines, the thickness of the material does not play a role in this.

Surface engraving: This operation is dependent on the total area to be engraved and has a complex calculation method, read more about it here.

2. Material choice and thickness.

Materials come in many types and sizes. Both the material price and the cutting speed are related to the thickness (and density) of the material. For most materials, the thicker it is, the more expensive the material. 

3. Extra options (protective film, fast delivery, bulk discount, etc.).

The extra options are optional and not applicable for every order. Protective and double-sided adhesive films incur additional costs but  can save a lot of work afterward. The costs for films depend on the chosen option and the number of sheets.

We offer bulk discounts for multiple sheets with the same design, this discount is automatically calculated in our online portal.If you need many (20+) of a specific part or parts, you can request a quote, and we will offer you a non-binding proposal with a customized price. 

In some cases, it is more advantageous to order a specific part more frequently for the bulk discount, but it may also be more cost-effective to place all parts on a sheet to save on material costs.
