Birch plywood is an all-round sheet material that is built up from thin layers of birch veneer. The material is sturdy and light in color. We supply B/BB quality plywood, which means that the front can contain small plugs and knots and the back can contain slightly larger plugs and knots.
Applications
Birch plywood is one of our most popular materials because it is strong and sturdy. The material is often found in packaging, housings, scale models, (name) signs, prototypes, jewelry and furniture and interior construction.
Design considerations
Pay attention to the thickness tolerance when designing finger and lock joints. Birch plywood has a grain direction and this is generally horizontal for a full panel, but can also be vertical depending on how the panel is sawn. If the grain direction is important, this should be indicated in advance.
Laser cutting
The cutting edges of birch plywood turn brown/black. There will be smoke deposits around the cut on the top and bottom of the material, this can largely prevented by protective film. Any smoke residue that is still on the material can easily be removed with sandpaper.

Post-processing
Post-processing of birch plywood is not necessary, if necessary the sheet material can still be sent with sandpaper grit 400 for a smooth finish. Birch plywood can be painted, glued, sawn, drilled and sanded, both afterwards or beforehand.
Appearance
Birch plywood is very light brown in colour, cutting edges and surface and line engravings are dark brown and (almost) do not transfer. Each plate is virtually flawless on the front, with some more brushes and blobs on the back. Due to the production process, the density may vary slightly.
