Acrysign (Acrylic)

Color

Mint green Acrysign is being phased out. Call for current stock.

Acrysign (also available as Acrylox) acrylic is an 8mm thick opaque PMMA sheet available in various colors. The material has a finely matte surface on one side, and the finish on the other side is high gloss.

Applications

Acrysign is mainly used for facade letters and logos, both indoors and outdoors. The material can also be used for applications where (colored) thick acrylic is needed.

Design considerations

There are few restrictions when cutting acrylic. For finger joints, it is important to consider the thickness tolerances of acrylic to prevent internal stresses and thus cracking or breaking. Also, acrylic in thin or long strips is relatively brittle and sensitive to warping due to the heat released during cutting, keep this in mind in the design.

Laser Cutting

Acrylic has protective film on both sides, ensuring the sheets are fully protected before, during, and after cutting. The cut is tight, clean, and the same color as the material. Engraving areas have a slightly whiter color compared to the material.

If there are only cutting and engraving lines in the design, we leave the film on both sides. If there are engraving areas in the design, we need to remove the film from the top side, in some cases, a small amount of smoke may deposit on the material.

Cutting Width 0.25mm (±0.05mm)
Smallest Supplied Shape 6x6mm
Smallest Detail (Engraving) 1mm
Maximum Size
120x60cm (up to 250x130cm available on request)
Additional Options Double-sided Adhesive Film

Important: by default, we place the sheet with the satin (matte) side facing up in the machine. If you prefer to have the sheet cut with the high-gloss side facing up, please indicate this in the comments field when ordering.

Post-processing

In principle, acrylic does not need post-processing due to the high quality of the material. The material can be glued, printed, sawn, sanded, milled and bent afterwards. With each processing, it is important to consider that the cutting process puts pressure on the cutting edge, and if the acrylic is then processed, small cracks may occur in some cases.

To give line and surface engravings greater contrast, they can be filled with paint (color fill). When the excess paint is then removed, the paint remains in the grooves.

Appearance

Depending on whether there are engraving surfaces in the design the material has protective film on both the front and back or only on the back. The material is scratch-sensitive without protective film.

Acrysign is completely opaque. Line and surface engravings have a matte white appearance. All parts are securely packed in a box and, if necessary, supported with wood.
