Solid cardboard gray
Solid board is a material that is made up of compressed paper fibres. This type is made with 100% recycled fibres.
Applications
Solid board is a construction material that is often found in displays, promotional items, packaging, cardboard and 3D models.
Because the material and processing are relatively cheap compared to other materials, it is often used for prototypes.
Design considerations
There are few restrictions when designing with greyboard. Due to the fibrous nature of the material, small parts can tear or break. It is therefore advisable to avoid long or thin parts as much as possible. Flat engraving is possible, but this produces a large amount of black residue. This can be prevented for protective film on the front of the material. Without a protective film on the bottom, the material on the bottom may get a little black backlash from the laser bed.
Laser cutting
Solid cardboard can be cut relatively quickly. A black residue remains on the cut that gives off, this can be removed with a dry cloth.
Engraving lines and surfaces are dark brown to black and give off a little bit. Protective film reduces the smoke of surface engraving.
Cutting width | 0.2mm (±0.05mm) |
Smallest shape supplied | 6x6mm |
Additional options | Double-sided adhesive film, protective film front/back |
Maximum size | 120x60cm (up to 120x80cm on request) |
Post-processing
After laser cutting, solid board can be taken off to remove loose residue. The material can be processed with a knife or scissors or with all-purpose glue or wood glue glued.
Appearance
The plates are grey with a clear fiber structure and have a smooth surface.
