A display must clearly present the product while being stable, transportable, and practical to use. Material and shape can support this, but they won't automatically solve an unclear construction.
Design around the actual product
Determine the dimensions, weight, and placement of the product. Check how someone picks up, replaces, or restocks the product. Also, consider cables, packaging, or price tags if they are part of the presentation.
Make stability visible in the drawing
Foot width, center of gravity, and connections determine whether a display will stand. A tall, narrow shape requires a different base than a low product holder. Test a new design with the actual product before ordering a series.
Choose material based on function and appearance
Plywood is light and structural for flat-pack displays. MDF provides a smooth surface when components are finished later. Acrylic is suitable for color, transparency, or a smooth visible part. Cardboard can be appropriate for light, temporary presentations.
Consider assembly and transport
A flat-pack saves volume, but the connections must be understandable and strong enough. Determine whether the display will be clicked, slid, or assembled in another way. Only add numbering or instruction markings where they truly help.
From prototype to production run
When reviewing the prototype, check the actual product fit, stability, assembly sequence, and sightlines. Incorporate corrections into a new, identifiable file version, and then order the full series based on the verified design.
