    Acrylaat kiezen voor lasersnijden

    Van glashelder tot spiegelend

Acrylaat is verkrijgbaar in transparante, dekkende, getinte, matte, fluorescerende en spiegelende uitvoeringen. Kies eerst de uitstraling en controleer daarna de beschikbare diktes.

    Gegoten of geëxtrudeerd

Acrylic is a clear, dimensionally stable plastic that can be laser cut very precisely. The material is also known by brand names such as Plexiglas®, Perspex®, Altuglas® and Setacryl®. The material family runs from completely transparent and colored to matt, reflecting, fluorescent and translucent.

The Acrylic laser cutting collection is the central place for both plexiglass and acrylic. You compare the available designs and thicknesses here and then open the material that suits your design.

    Why cut acrylic lasers?

The laser melts locally through the material and makes a tight, shiny cutting edge. This allows complex contours, small openings, letters and repeatable parts without mechanical load due to a saw or milling. The result is particularly strong in parts where appearance and accuracy are important together.

    Which version suits your application?

    Transparent and coloured transparent

Clear acrylic is used for covers, windows, models and presentation parts. Coloured transparent variants add color while light and underlying shapes remain visible.

    Covered, translucent and opal

Covered acrylic does not allow light to pass through. Translucent and opal variants spread light without being completely transparent. These differences are relevant for panels, displays and illuminated applications.

Matt, mirror, fluorine and special surfaces

Mat acrylic limits reflection and gives a softer surface. Mirror acrylic consists of a clear plate with a reflecting layer on the back. Fluorescent edges light up when they catch light. There are also glitter, metallic and structural variants. Check which side is used for each product.

    Cast or extruded acrylic

Cast acrylic, often referred to as GS, is usually the best choice for a clear line or area engraving. It does have a greater thickness tolerance. Extruded acrylic, XT, usually has a more constant thickness and can be beneficial to compounds, but engraves differently and often less contrast rich. Each material page shows which version you are looking at.

    Cutting and engraving acrylic

Cut lines can be combined with line and area engraving in one design. A light, matte engraving usually occurs on transparent and coloured acrylic. In the case of mirror acrylics, the mirror coating is often engraved from the back so that the front remains smooth. Read for the differences and design choices Engraving Acrylic: Select material, silk and contrast.

Protective film varies from one product to another. The material page indicates whether foil is present and on which side. Non-standard protective film and adhesive film can be set as an option in the portal when available for the selected material.

What are you paying attention to in your design?

    • Thickness tolerance: design compounds on the actual sheet thickness, especially with cast acrylic.
    • Internal voltage: too tight press passes, sharp corners and thin strips can burst.
    • Heat: Long, narrow shapes can slightly distort during cutting. Distribute parts compact but keep sufficient distance.
    • Cleaning: Do not use aggressive agents that cause stress tears.
    • View side: In the case of mirror, matt and structural material, determine in advance which side should be visible in the final product.

    Common Applications

Acrylic is widely used for technical panels, front panels, enclosure parts, displays, product presentations, logo elements, signage, models and decorative parts. The same drawing can be produced as single piece, prototype or complete series.

Have acrylic or plexiglass cut lasers

Upload your vector drawing, choose material and thickness and set the operations per line color. The portal then calculates the price of your own design. View the drawing rules or read how online ordering works.

Color, transparency and surface are best judged in real life. You can therefore also use the portal order material samples.
