MDF kiezen voor een egaal oppervlak
Bruin, zwart, wit of gekleurd?
Bruin MDF is de neutrale basis. Zwart, wit en door-en-door gekleurd MDF geven zichtwerk direct een andere uitstraling. Bekijk per product de beschikbare diktes en kleuren.
Een rustige, egale plaat
MDF heeft geen zichtbare fineerlagen of houtnerf. Daardoor werkt het goed voor modellen, displays, letters en onderdelen die later worden geschilderd of afgewerkt.
De snijrand wordt donkerder
De laser laat een donkere rand achter. Bij licht MDF is dat contrast duidelijker; bij zwart MDF valt het doorgaans minder op. Gravures worden eveneens donkerder zichtbaar.
MDF of multiplex?
Kies MDF voor een egaal oppervlak en multiplex wanneer laagopbouw, nerf of een gunstige sterkte-gewichtsverhouding belangrijker is.

Which MDF suits your design?
Brown MDF is a practical base for parts that remain unfinished or will be painted. Black and white MDF give visible components a distinct look. Through-coloured MDF is available in several colours, making the core part of the design. Current colours and thicknesses are listed on each product page.
Laser cutting and engraving MDF
The laser cuts complex contours without mechanical contact. The cut edge becomes darker; the contrast is more visible on light MDF than on black MDF. Line and area engravings also appear darker. The final edge depends on the product, thickness and geometry of the part.
Designing with MDF
Design joints using the actual sheet thickness and allow for the laser kerf. Narrow bridges, small holes and fine protruding details are more fragile than wider shapes. A test part is advisable for press fits and repeatable assemblies. See the drawing guidelines for laser cutting.
Choosing MDF or plywood
Choose MDF when a calm, uniform surface matters. Plywood shows wood grain and layers and is generally preferable when strength relative to weight is important. Read more about choosing MDF or plywood.
