Kies op grondstof, functie en levensduur

    Gerecycled of biobased?

Gerecyclede materialen bevatten opnieuw gebruikte grondstoffen.

At Het Laser Lokaal we believe in the power of sustainable design. That is why we offer a growing range of environmentally friendly materials that are perfect for laser cutting. From innovative biobased panels to renewable raw materials and recycled fibres: sustainability is an integral part of our material policy. In this collection we highlight four special materials that allow you to make sustainable choices in return for quality or editability: Biopanel, Fibernyl, bamboo and recycled cardboard.

Biopanel: biobased sheet material from Dutch soil

Biopanel is a revolutionary biobased sheet material specially developed as a sustainable alternative to traditional plastics such as PVC or acrylic. The material is composed of residual streams of Dutch agricultural crops, including hemp grown for fibre, flax and other natural cellulose sources. Thanks to this circular production process, Biopanel is CO2-neutral and fully recyclable.

What makes Biopanel special is not only its origin, but also its appearance. The material has a warm, fibre-rich structure that gives each creation a natural look. It is surprisingly lightweight, which makes it suitable for applications where transport, assembly ease or weight savings play a role.

In the laser cutter Biopanel has a precise and sharp processing. It cuts neatly, without burning or fraying, and is very suitable for decorative panels, signposting, displays, packaging or prototypes with a durable appearance. It is also suitable for laser engraving, with the fibre-rich surface making subtle textures possible.

Fibernyl: strong, flexible sheets from hemp

Fibernyl is a durable hemp-based sheet material. Aesthetically, Fibernyl distinguishes itself by its unique fibre structure and characteristic colour shades, depending on the origin of the textile fibres used. Each album is visually unique, a feature that appeals to designers, artists and brands with a sustainable mission.

Fibernyl is excellent laser cut to process. The material, like MDF or plywood, is cut exactly, with a clean edge finish and minimal discoloration. Thanks to its flexibility and impact resistance, it is suitable for furniture, interior elements, wall panels, packaging, signalization and more. Especially in contexts where design, durability and story come together, Fibernyl is a logical choice.

Bamboo: renewable hardwood with a warm look

Bamboo is one of the fastest renewable raw materials in the world. Where traditional hardwood species take decades to grow, bamboo reaches full maturity in just five years. This makes it an extremely sustainable alternative to wood applications.

Bamboo plates are made up of pressed strips or bamboo trunk fibres and are available in different structures and tones, such as natural, caramel or vertically pressed. From a visual point of view, bamboo offers a warm, luxurious look with a fine grain structure, popular in interior design, product development and sustainable branding.

In our laser service we process bamboo with high precision. The material cuts sharply and can also be well engraved to apply patterns, logo dressings or text. Thanks to its sturdiness and dimensional stability, bamboo is ideal for functional and decorative objects such as jewellery, displays, card holders, wall decorations or durable business gifts.

In addition, bamboo is CO2 positive: it absorbs more CO2 during growth than emissions from production and processing. This makes it a favorite material for designers with an ecological approach.

    Recycled cardboard: circular and versatile

Recycled cardboard is a classic within sustainable material use, but continues to renew. Cardboard based on recycled fibres is light, budget-friendly and completely circular. It is made from collected paper and cardboard waste that is reprocessed to solid plates in different thicknesses.

For laser cutting recycled cardboard is very suitable: It cuts fast, clean and with minimal fire edge. Thanks to the uniform structure, even complex patterns or small details are possible. Engraving produces subtle contrasts, especially in thicker variants or cardboard with a light brown hue.

Applications range from prototypes and packaging to educational material, presentation models or temporary decorations. Because the material is relatively cheap and environmentally friendly, many designers and teachers consciously choose cardboard as the first step in their manufacturing process.

Recycled cardboard is also ideal for series or tests: It is well stacked, sent and easily adapted. Moreover, the material directly exudes what it is: a conscious choice for simplicity, circularity and environmental awareness.

Why choose durable materials for laser cutting?

The choice of sustainable materials goes beyond the final product. It affects the whole chain: from raw materials to treatment and waste disposal. By choosing materials such as Biopanel, Fibernyl, bamboo or recycled cardboard, you contribute to less CO2 emissions, less waste and more circular value creation.

Moreover, these materials are not only durable, but also aesthetically attractive, technically reliable and surprisingly versatile. They offer designers, artists, companies and educational institutions the opportunity to innovate within the limits of sustainability. Whether you create a single prototype or develop a series of sustainable products, there is always an environmentally sound alternative at your fingertips.
