Polyester (PET) felt

What is this material?Black PET felt is a lightweight, fibrous sheet material made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate. It has a soft, matte appearance and is primarily chosen for decorative and acoustic indoor applications.

What is it suitable for?The material is suitable for wall panels, decorative patterns, displays, exhibition materials, and neat packaging inlays. For acoustic design, the thickness, mounting, and amount of felt also matter. Have the required sound absorption for your space determined.

When designing.Take material thickness into account and avoid details that depend on sharp engraving contrast. A line engraving is barely visible but can be used as a bending or hinge line. Surface engraving is not suitable due to melting.

When laser cutting and engraving.The cutting edge remains black and looks clean. The fibers slightly melt together at the edge, making it feel smoother and harder than the uncut surface. No visible smoke stains typically appear on the sheet.

Finishing and maintenance.PET felt usually does not require finishing after cutting. It is supplied without protective film and is not UV-resistant, making prolonged outdoor use or direct sunlight less suitable.
