Single-sided walnut-veneered MDF

What is this material? Veneered walnut wood, single-sided, consists of a brown HDF core with natural walnut veneer on the front and a reddish-brown okoumé counter-veneer on the back. The dark walnut grain forms the visible side of the panel.

What is it suitable for? A suitable choice for fronts, interior panels, displays, decorative components, and models where one side needs to have a dark, natural wood appearance. The technical reverse side should preferably remain out of sight.

When designing. Walnut veneer naturally varies in color, grain, and pattern. Plan the walnut side as the front, specify an important grain direction in advance, and consider the thin top layer for intricate shapes. Use the measured panel thickness for appropriate joints.

For laser cutting and engraving. The cut edge will be dark brown to black, and smoke residue may occur around cuts or engravings. Protective film can limit residue on the surface. Engravings are dark and therefore more subtly visible on the dark walnut veneer than on light wood types.

Finishing and maintenance. The walnut veneer can be carefully sanded, varnished, or oiled. Avoid sanding through the thin top layer. The panel is intended for dry indoor applications and must be protected from moisture.
