Neoprene foam

What is this material?Neoprene foam rubber is a flexible material with closed cells. This means it absorbs very little liquid, making it suitable for sealing, damping, and protection. The surface is fine-celled and dark grey to black.

What is it suitable for?This foam rubber is used for gaskets, seals, dampers, protective layers, and sound-absorbing components. It is particularly interesting when flexibility, compression, and moisture resistance are all required.

When designing.Consider the compression and thickness tolerance of the foam. Long, narrow shapes may shift due to internal tension or relax slightly after cutting. Do not design sharp, thin bridges for components that will be subjected to tensile stress.

When laser cutting and engraving.The laser makes a clean cut without significant soot accumulation. Because the material is flexible, the final size may deviate slightly from the digital design. Engravings have little color contrast and are therefore less suitable as prominent markings.

Finishing and maintenance.Neoprene can be trimmed with a sharp knife. Before contact with oil, solvents, heat, or other chemicals, always check whether this specific material variant is suitable for such contact. For special material requirements, inquire beforehand about available documentation.
