Mylar film

What is this material?Mylar is a very thin, transparent polyester film. The film is lightweight, flexible, and smooth with a slight sheen. Due to its minimal thickness, the material is primarily intended for flat applications without a load-bearing function.

What is it suitable for?Mylar is mainly used for reusable stencils, overlays, model making, and fine cutting. The transparent material makes it easy to position a stencil over a surface.

When designing.Design closed bridges in letters and loose inner shapes so that a stencil remains usable as a single piece. Avoid very narrow connections in places that are often bent or stressed. Engraving is not available for this thin film.

For laser cutting and engraving.The film is exclusively suitable for laser cutting. This allows for the creation of fine shapes and contours. Light flashback from the laser bed may be visible on the underside without a protective layer.

Finishing and maintenance.Store stencils flat and clean them carefully to prevent kinks and damaged edges. They can be made self-adhesive with a suitable repositionable adhesive. Mylar can be used temporarily outdoors, but is not intended for long-term outdoor exposure.
