You can upload AI, EPS, DXF, SVG and PDF files. The most practical choice is usually a format your drawing software can save without unnecessary conversions. All five need real vector paths: placing a photo in a PDF does not make it a cutting drawing.
Illustrator artwork: AI or a vector export
If you work in Illustrator, you can use an AI file or export to EPS, SVG or PDF. Convert text to outlines and remove images, masks and effects that are not intended as production paths. Keep an editable original as well.
Technical CAD drawings: DXF
DXF is useful for flat contours exported from CAD software. Export at actual size in millimetres, without dimensions, title blocks or stray points. A 3D model must first become a usable flat drawing. Read the DXF export guide for checks on scale and paths.
SVG and PDF: check the content
SVG is a natural choice for Inkscape. PDF can work with several drawing programs, provided the shapes you want to produce are vectors. A scan, screenshot or rasterised logo in a PDF remains an image. For a supplied logo, ask for the original vector file where possible.
Check the export as well as the original
Reopen the saved file and compare a known dimension. Then check that the portal shows every contour, opening and engraving shape. If anything is missing, correct the source and export again. The drawing guide covers the other file requirements.
