EVA and PE foam are used for inserts, but the right choice depends on the actual grade. Hard and soft PE already feel different. Choose according to the support, grip and space your product needs.
How should the product sit?
A vulnerable item needs support in the right places. A heavy product has different needs from a lightweight sample. Following only the outer contour can put pressure on fragile projections.
Compare the firmness and resilience of EVA foam, hard PE foam and soft PE foam. Their product properties help narrow the choice.
Choose grip and accessibility together
A tight insert holds a product well but can make it difficult to remove. Add a finger recess in a useful position. Test with the actual product, since foam behaviour and kerf affect the fit.
Depth and visible surface
The surface also contributes to a presentation box's appearance. For depth, combine a base layer with contour layers. Check the overall height in the box and that the lid closes without pressure on the product.
An available adhesive backing can simplify layering or mounting. Protective film and adhesive backing are different options; foam does not need protective film to have a self-adhesive back.
Compare in the actual packaging
A sample helps with appearance and feel. To choose the final material, make a trial insert. Move the box, remove the product and check pressure points. Read about designing a suitable foam insert.
