Can you order the same parts again months later? Generally, yes: we work from the same digital file. Material can vary between runs, including colour, grain and actual thickness. A well-prepared production series allows for this.
The file is the fixed starting point
The contours, holes and engraving positions come from the supplied file. That is why version control is more important than many customers think. An old file with almost the same name is enough to put the wrong implementation back into production.
So, after a successful test, keep one approved production version. In our new portal you can find previous projects and orders, which repeat orders makes it a lot clearer. If anything changes in shape, material or thickness, give that version a new version.
Which material properties can vary?
With plywood, the grain may run differently per sheet and the shade may differ slightly. Plastics, rubbers and cardboard also have their own normal variation. That is usually not a problem, as long as the design does not only work with one theoretical sheet thickness or one perfect visible side.
For parts that interlock, we therefore recommend a sample in the material you actually want to order. The explanation about fit and tolerances helps to make such connections less sensitive.
Make visible what is important to you
One customer mainly looks at passing; the other wants all visible parts to use the same side of the plate. Tell us what the product is supposed to do and what differences your customer would notice. Then we can determine together what needs to be checked during the test.
For returning sets, logistics can also be taken into account. Think of fixed numbers per set or recognizable variants. We only do bundling and labeling if this has been agreed in advance as a custom solution. This way the core remains simple: one approved file, an appropriate choice of materials and clear agreements about what must remain the same in the series.
