Little Creations uses laser cutting as a production basis for its own creative building kits. This concerns recurring, variable production runs of approximately 100 to 1,000 sets. This collaboration shows how multiple designs and variants remain manageable when materials, files and quantities are treated as fixed production data.
The design remains the maker's
Little Creations determines the appearance, uses and product choices. Het Laser Lokaal produces flat parts from the supplied files. Little Creations can continue developing the collection while we manufacture the parts.
For a maker, this means that product development and production can coexist without the original design being outsourced. Little Creations determines which collection or variant is made; we ensure that the supplied geometry can be made reproducibly in the chosen sheet material.
Material and detail must match the product
With smaller decorative parts, edge quality, fine recesses and engravings are quickly noticeable. The chosen panel type and thickness must therefore not only be attractive, but also retain sufficient strength around narrow shapes and openings.
An initial test helps to distinguish between three different questions: is the size correct, does the part remain sturdy and does the appearance match the collection? For color and surface, a material sample may be sufficient, but fine contours and joints must be assessed in a real part.
The method of post-processing also counts. A customer who paints, glues or assembles parts himself has different requirements for visible side and protection than a part that is used immediately after cutting. Such next steps must be known before the series.
Reproduce an approved version
After shape, size and material have been tested, the same production drawing can be used for a subsequent series. For production runs of 100 to 1,000 sets, version management is essential: changes are delivered as a new version, so that it remains clear which version and which mix of construction kits is ordered.
In a collection with multiple designs, fixed naming prevents format, material and version from becoming mixed up. A repeat order uses the previous file and settings as a starting point, but price and availability are recalculated up to date.
When this collaboration fits well
This approach suits designers and brands that retain ownership of the product and sales while outsourcing laser cutting. The product must be producible as flat parts or a set of sheet components. The maker retains the collection, sales and product assembly.
Clear filenames and consistent material choices let a new production run build on the approved version.
