Birch aircraft plywood (extra thin)

What is this material?Extra-thin birch aircraft plywood consists of three fine layers of birch veneer. Its low thickness makes it light and somewhat flexible, while the cross-glued layers provide more stability than a single veneer layer.

What is it suitable for?This material is well-suited for scale models, architectural models, light packaging, thin cladding, and refined decorative components for which ordinary plywood is too thick or too heavy.

When designing.Thin sheets may be slightly warped, and narrow shapes remain fragile. The sheet bends most easily perpendicular to the grain direction. For joints, consider the actual thickness and indicate any important grain or bending direction in advance.

For laser cutting and engraving.Laser cutting produces a dark, almost black cut edge. Engravings also turn dark and are clearly visible on the light wood. Smoke residue may occur around the cut; protective film largely limits this.

Finishing and maintenance.Light smoke marks can be carefully sanded off. The material can be glued, painted, or varnished, but use little moisture and support large thin parts during processing and storage to limit warping.
