Kraftplex

What is this material? Kraftplex is a thin sheet of compressed wood fibers. It has a warm brown, paper-like appearance, a subtle surface texture, and no visible grain direction. The shade may vary per sheet.

What is it suitable for? The material is well-suited for architectural models, small packaging, card making, covers, stencils, templates, and light construction kits where a thin, natural, and somewhat flexible sheet is desired.

When designing. Kraftplex can bend and fold, but has limited load-bearing capacity. Give narrow parts sufficient width, avoid high mechanical stress, and store larger parts flat and dry to minimize warping.

For laser cutting and engraving. The material can be precisely laser-cut. The cut edge inevitably discolors to dark brown to black, and surface engravings also become dark brown, creating a clear contrast with the warm brown surface.

Finishing and maintenance. Kraftplex can be glued and finished with paint, oil, or varnish. The material is sensitive to moisture and changes in the ambient climate; therefore, use and store it dry and indoors.
