MDF white

What is this material? White MDF has a brown MDF core with a smooth white foil coating on one side. The material has no grain direction and does not splinter like solid wood. The back and core remain brown.

What is it suitable for? A convenient choice for models, displays, packaging, artworks, and interior components that require a clean white visible side immediately, without the entire component needing to be white throughout.

When designing. Determine beforehand which side will be the white visible side. Keep in mind that cut edges, engravings, and the back will remain brown. Avoid load-bearing applications and components for humid environments.

When laser cutting and engraving. The laser creates dark brown to black cut edges and brown engravings. Smoke residue is particularly noticeable on the white surface; protective film on both sides can limit residue around cuts and engravings.

Finishing and maintenance. Handle the white coating carefully, as sanding and other post-processing can damage or remove it. The MDF core easily absorbs moisture, so use the material dry and indoors.
