Preparing a wall logo for laser cutting

Choose separate letters or a logo on a backing sheet, decide the viewing distance and plan its position on the wall.

A wall logo needs to be recognisable from the intended distance and practical to mount. Choose its size and construction first, then work out cutting contours, engraving and fixings.

View the logo on the wall

Place a paper print or correctly scaled mock-up in the intended location. Assess it from the entrance or approach. Small text that reads well on screen may disappear on the wall. Consider background contrast and light too.

Separate letters or a backing sheet?

Separate letters leave the wall visible between the shapes. Each part needs positioning individually. A mounting template can help maintain spacing and alignment.

On a backing sheet, the relative positions of letters or engravings are already fixed. The sheet becomes part of the image and needs its own fixings. That can simplify mounting but creates a different appearance with more visible material.

Consider small separate pieces

Dots, narrow letter strokes and small logo details need securing without damage. View their actual dimensions rather than merely enlarging them on screen. Read about designing small letters for vulnerable details.

Prepare positioning

Include required holes and reference points before cutting. Choose fixings for the material, weight and substrate. We supply sheet parts; installation is carried out by you or your installer. Discuss mounting templates or additional fixings beforehand.

See examples of logos, letters and signage and compare acrylic or wood for the appearance you want.
