With laser cutting you can make flat parts for housings and electronics: front panels, side walls, mounting plates, spacers and cover plates. The technology is especially strong when you want to quickly test a variant or reorder parts later.
Start with components and connections
Measure circuit boards, connectors, displays, buttons and mounting points before drawing the panel. Don't just copy the nominal size from a datasheet, but also check edges, cable clearance and the movement required to mount a part.
Round holes, slots and recesses can be cut directly from the vector lines. Text, markings and connection labels can be included as line or area engraving in the same file.
Flat parts together form the construction
A laser-cut enclosure consists of flat panels joined with designed connections, spacers or existing components. We supply the cut sheet parts for you to assemble.
Material determines more than the appearance
Transparent acrylic can be used for windows and transparent covers. Colored or matt acrylic can give a front panel a finished appearance. MDF and plywood are practical for a first functional test. Engineering plastics may be a better fit when wear, toughness or low friction are important.
For holes and slotted joints, use actual component dimensions and sheet thickness. For a critical fit, a small test with several dimensions is more useful than ordering a complete enclosure run immediately.
Test the risky details first
If necessary, only make the front panel or a connection as a test part. Check connectors, buttons, screw holes and mounting order. After correction, the same drawing can be used for the remaining panels or a larger series.
Also test whether the housing can be opened and closed without unnecessary tension. Screws may hold parts together, but should not force a misfit. Give each revision its own file name, especially if the circuit board, connector or display changes during development.
Laser-cut sheet material parts do not automatically solve thermal management, electrical insulation or certification of the end product. Therefore, consider ventilation openings and choice of materials according to the technical requirements of the electronics and have the complete system assessed when regulations or safety require this.
