Matte acrylic

What is this material?Matte acrylic is a coloured, translucent plastic with a finely frosted surface on both sides. The satin-like finish reduces reflection and diffuses incident light more softly than glossy acrylic.

What is it suitable for?A suitable choice for displays, nameplates, interior components, models and illuminated applications where colour and a calm, matte appearance come together.

When designing.When designing matching parts and finger joints, take into account the thickness tolerance. Long, narrow or very thin parts are relatively brittle and may deform slightly due to the heat of cutting.

For laser cutting and engraving.The laser creates a clean cutting edge in the colour of the material. Line and area engravings become matte white and are clearly visible on the coloured surface.

Finishing and maintenance.The sheets have protective film. For area engraving, the film on the top side is removed, and light smoke marks or small scratches may occur. Clean the matte surface carefully with a soft cloth.

Further processing yourself.You can further process or glue acrylic yourself after cutting. Be aware of tension in the cutting edge: small cracks may occur during post-processing. Therefore, try the chosen processing first on a scrap piece.
