Solid board grey

What is this material?Grey solid board is a compact sheet made of compressed paper fibers. The material has no corrugated core, feels firm and flat, and shows a visible fiber structure on the surface.

What is it suitable for?A versatile base for displays, packaging components, models, prototypes, carton boxes, and light 3D models. Due to the range of available thicknesses, the material can be chosen for both thin layers and sturdier model parts.

When designing.Avoid long, very narrow parts and small shapes that will be bent during use. The fiber material can tear or break there. Use the actual thickness for connections and for thicker parts, keep in mind a clearly visible dark cut edge.

For laser cutting and engraving.The cut edge turns black and may leave soot. Line and area engravings color dark brown to black; especially larger engraved areas can leave noticeable residue. Blowback from the laser bed may also be visible on the underside. Protective film can limit smoke residue from area engraving.

Finishing and maintenance.Loose soot can be carefully removed with a dry cloth. The cardboard can be cut and glued. Store and use it dry, as moisture can cause the board to swell, warp, and lose its firmness.
