Fibernyl bioplastic

What is this material? Fibernyl by Vibers is an opaque composite material containing elephant grass, PLA, and starch from potato processing. The visible fibers give the surface a natural look. The material is slightly flexible and can vary in color and texture from sheet to sheet.

What is it suitable for? The material is suitable for displays, packaging details, labels, signage, prototypes, and decorative interior components where the fiber structure can deliberately be part of the design.

When designing. Consider the actual sheet thickness, slight flexibility, and differences between the two sides of the sheet. Very fine details may appear less crisp due to the visible fibers than on a completely smooth plastic sheet.

For laser cutting and engraving. Fibernyl can be laser-cut and engraved in lines or areas. Residue may form around cuts and engravings, especially visible on lighter versions. Protective film limits discoloration; any remaining marks can be carefully sanded depending on the finish.

Finishing and maintenance. Treat the natural fiber structure as part of the material's aesthetic and test sanding or cleaning on a scrap piece first. Preferably use the material indoors; for moisture, sunlight, or intensive mechanical stress, a suitability test is required beforehand.
