A laser cutter follows the vector lines in your drawing. These lines determine the shape, size, and processing of each part. Therefore, the machine cannot use a photo or other pixel image as a cutting line.
What do you need?
For online ordering, use an AI, EPS, DXF, SVG, or PDF file with usable vector lines. Create your drawing at actual size in millimeters and ensure that all lines to be produced are visible.
Creating a file
You can draw a file in vector software or a CAD program. If you work with a designer, ask for a production file in AI, EPS, DXF, SVG, or PDF. JPG and PNG files are not production drawings for online upload. An SVG or PDF is only usable if its content consists of suitable vector lines.
You can sometimes trace a simple logo or silhouette. Always check the result: automatic tracing often leads to unnecessary points, double lines, or distorted details.
Check your drawing before uploading
- Work at actual size and in millimeters.
- Convert text to outlines.
- Remove duplicate lines, guide lines, and hidden objects.
- Use closed shapes for area engraving.
- Check that images or pixels have been removed from the file.
